Our History

From the five families who met in a living room ten years ago to the nearly five hundred who now gather weekly in south Blue Springs, Heartland Church has provided a loving family for many in the Eastern Jackson County community. Heartland Church celebrates its 10 year anniversary this year with the theme, “Coming Home to Heartland.” We will celebrate with special services at 9 and 10:45 a.m. on Sunday, April 13. Our church family invites the community to join us as we celebrate the Heartland Church journey and how God has worked in and through our church over the last 10 years.

Senior pastor Tim Buzan and his family began Heartland Church with a vision of a church where people could feel welcomed and accepted and where others who have been hurt could find a home to heal and feel loved. They wanted to provide a safe place primarily for people who didn’t go to church or who had stopped attending. “If you just attract folks from other churches to a new church, it’s just reshuffling the deck,” Tim said.
