Basics: Van is happily married to Jenny and has a daughter, Lauren (19), and 2 sons, Carl (15), and Jerry (almost 10).   Van loves photography, video, sound, lighting, computers, presentations, and guitars.  I love pastoring, sharing the word, training others and seeing them grow & succeed in their walk with Christ. I love anything technical and making others look good in presentations, drama, concerts, plays, etc.  "Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain!"

I love the Lord and my family first. I can be a perfectionist but love to have fun and try not to take myself too seriously. I am technical, artsy, and have a stupid sense of humor. Sadly, I have realized I am somewhat of an adrenaline junkie and need to learn to relax more.

I love to make others happy, making them laugh, and trying to bring the best in them.  I am the consummate coach.

My responsibilities at church are...
Primarily outreach & evangelism are my passions. However, the Lord has allowed me to be a part of anything technical, lead a Sunday night care group, counsel, and have even been known to give a message now and then.

My favorite thing about being at Heartland is... Being involved with so many authentic people who want to "Know Christ And To Make Him Known."

If I had my dream vacation I’d... Go to Daytona Beach with my family and slip in the Daytona 500 while I was there!

If you want to read a good book get... Duh... My NIV bible!  Oh... well besides that... "Marriage Takes More Than Love" by Jack & Carol Mayhall & "The Lost Art of Disciple Making" by Leroy Eims.

If I could do a hobby for a living I’d... Be a NASCAR or INDY Driver and give testimony.  Or a guitar player for a great Christian band.

My favorite team to cheer for is...The Chiefs for football and the Cardinals for baseball.

The best movie I’ve ever seen is... Fireproof

My most rewarding volunteer activity is... Our outreaches through the "Block Parties" & youth "RiverJams." I love helping people see their need for Goc and how He is personally involved in their lives.

If I didn't work at Heartland I’d... Be in sales, information technology, or photography.

My favorite quotation is... About staying close to God: "When your output exceeds your input then your upkeep will be your downfall."
